Eta Sigma Gamma: Alpha Lambda

Member

Eta Sigma Gamma is a national honorary society for health education students. Alpha Lambda, the University of Florida chapter, promotes the professional development of students, enhances student involvement, and prepares students for employment or participation in the fields of health education and promotion.

As a member of ESG Alpha Lambda, I have attended several meetings, seminars, and training sessions that serve to increase my knowledge of health education topics and methods for promoting good health. The image included is a sign that I created for my chapter as part of a fundraising initiative.
Case for Smiles at UF

CoFounder, President

Case for Smiles is a student organization that assists the Gainesville chapter of Ryan's Case for Smiles. Our mission is to recruit student volunteers to sew colorful pillowcases for local pediatric patients. Volunteers can also participate in on-campus sewing events, hospital pillowcase distribution events, and on-campus social and fundraising events.

During my sophomore year of college, I re-established Case for Smiles as a UF student organization. Since that day, I have focused my efforts on expanding our reach on campus, welcoming new members, and growing our number of sewers and donators in the community. As president of CFS, I communicated with other officers to organize our events and held meetings for both officers and members. Depicted above is a photograph of myself and a volunteer delivering pillowcases to patients.
Ryan's Case for Smiles: Gainesville

Chapter Coordinator

Ryan's Case for Smiles is a national non-profit organization that hopes to reduce the stress and impact of illness by providing pediatric patients with colorful pillowcases and family members with supportive and constructive resources. Chapters across the country sew pillowcases for donation and participate in events held by the non-profit group.

My role as Coordinator for the Gainesville Chapter of Ryan's Case for Smiles requires intense coordination between sewers, volunteers, and hospitals. I have established several donation drop-off sites throughout North Florida, built a strong relationship with the ChildLife department of UF Shands' Hospital, and contributed to my chapter's total of 119,624 donated pillowcases. Our UF student group also provides assistance with donations, fundraising, events, and meetings. Some of our pillowcases are shown above.
